In May 1998, Harry arrived at Hogwarts to search for a horcrux. Minerva McGonagall duels Snape until he leaves Hogwarts. Voldemort kills Snape in a mistaken attempt to gain control over the Elder Wand. Harry sees Snape die. Snapes memories are collected and watched by Harry after his death. Harry finds out that Snape loved his mother and that he was trying to protect him for the last eight years.
