Minerva McGonagall (Biography)
Chapter 13
Minerva McGonagall
Minerva McGonagall is the Hogwarts Transfiguration teacher, and also served as Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. She was one of Albus Dumbledore's close colleagues and friends. McGonagall is also Head of Gryffindor House. She’s a very powerful witch, part of the Order of the Phoenix, and takes part in the Battle of Hogwarts. She is one of the first people to fight Voldemort in person along with Kingsley Shacklebolt and Horace Slughorn.
Minerva grew up in the Highlands of Scotland at the turn of the 20th century, and only slowly discovered that there was something strange about her abilities as well as her parents' marriage. During the Sorting of her arrival at Hogwarts, it appears that Minerva was a Hat Stall, as the Sorting Hat hesitated between sending her to Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.
She was quickly recognized as the brightest student of the year, with a special gift for metamorphosis and, at the end of her studies, she obtained impressive results: great marks in her OWLs and NEWS, prefect-in-chief, and winner of the Best Young Hope Prize awarded by the Monthly Metamorphosis.
Led by her Transfiguration teacher, Albus Dumbledore, Minerva managed to become an Animagus, in the form of a tabby cat, with square markings around its eyes.
She is also a very gifted Quidditch player, although a bad fall in her senior year, against a match between Gryffindor and Slytherin, which must decide the winner of the cup, ended with a concussion and several broken ribs. It was during her studies, that she met Filius Flitwick and Pomona Sprout, with whom she had excellent relations with.
Minerva McGonagall is a tall, rather stern-looking woman. She always wears a tight bun and wears square glasses. In her Animagus form, she is a tabby cat and has markings around her eyes similar to her glasses. She often wears emerald green dresses.
