Chapter 4
I sneakily looked out the window and saw a big blue van that I didn’t recognize at all, but then there was something that I couldn’t quite place yet but all I knew was that I didn’t like it. Then it hit me. On the side of the van there was TMH in black. I knew at that instance who it was inside that suspicious van.
I felt my heart racing. I didn’t know what to do. “Should I run? Should I hide?” I questioned myself inside my head. I decided. I grabbed a bag and stuffed some things I would need and I looked out the window again. They were still coming down the driveway. I grabbed a blue and black permanent marker and wrote “20.13.8.” in blue on the front door. It was in a code that me and my mother used. I looked at where the van was. It was just coming to a halt just outside of the house.
I ran to my room really quick to grab something. I took the black bag of small rubber balls. I then ran into the hallway where the “dead end” was. I still had the black marker in my hands and wrote “3,9,19,25” on the wall. I then grabbed everything I had and I put my hands on the wall. I then pushed it gently enough so that it could scan my fingerprints. The wall then gave a little beep. “Edgar Allen Poe” I announced to the wall. The wall gave a second beep.
