“Yes”, I whispered trying not to bring any attention to me.
Not many people knew that my ancestor was Edgar Allen Poe. Most of the people who knew were adults and even then there were about 20 other people in the world other than family that knew about Poe.
“Sorry” Lily whispered. I was wondering about the news through 1st,2nd,3rd, and even 4th period and then in 5th period I was wondering what might have happened. Then came the bell signaling lunch.
I walked to my locker to get my lunch bag. I grabbed it and started walking to the cafeteria but stopped after overhearing a conversation.
“Did you hear what happened to Poe?” one girl asked, then another said something that made my face turn go white.
“I heard that someone in this school is related to him. Who do you think it is” that made me want to go home before anyone found out.
I didn’t know what to do so that’s exactly what I did. I ran home. My house wasn’t far from the school but I always took the bus because then I could relax and visit another world, but all I wanted to do right now was to be alone.
I was sitting in my room talking to myself when my mom came into my room and looked at me. Sitting on my bed she said she had to tell me something very important and it couldn’t wait any longer. I asked her if I was in trouble. She just chuckled and said that it was about something else.
