“It’s fine. Anyways how could you have known about my mother’s death.”
He smiled, a forced smile, to try and reasure that it was fine. He was sweet and kind and he seemed like he genuinely wanted to help me, so…
”Do you know the way back to Morrill? There I will wait for my mom.”
He smiled a real smile and nodded his head. We walked out of the janitor’s closet once more and walked to the exit. “Can we stop by my place so I can grab a few things?”
“Of course. Where is it?”
“Just around this block.”
“Ok.”
We walked up to an old building with lots of shattered windows and some chipped cement bricks. We walked up the broken steps and opened the noisy door as it creaked. It was so chilly in there that I clung to my sweater that I wore. The floor was dirty and it looked like nobody had stepped foot in this building for months.
We walked up the old creaking stairs and turned into a hall full of spider webs. Zayden walked through the hall like there was nothing there. He dodged the webs and opened a door to his right. I followed after him and walked into the room. I was surprised to find that this room was clean and there were no broken windows or shattered glass like every other room. The walls were a light blue color and the wooden floor wasn’t filthy. There was a small bed in the corner of the room that was made all nice and neat. The kitchen sink was empty and all of the dishes were put away from the dishwasher. It was way cleaner than I thought it would be considering the other rooms I had seen.
