The Sneaky Escape from Home
Chapter 3
It was still dark when I got up in the early morning. I got dressed briskly, and crept downstairs slowly. My heart was beating hard once again. I was actually going to go to Hogwarts! Well, sneak onto the train and see it.
It was raining. I pulled on my rain-coat and went outside after having some cold toast. The street-lamps were still on so I could see the foot-path and road clearly.
But then I stopped in the middle of the road, in the rain. How would I get to Kings Cross? That was the problem! Why hadn't I realized that? Stupid, stupid me! I thought bitterly.
I would have to walk.... I would have to! I went back inside before I started to walk, and got a banana, a apple, and water. I would get hungry, and surely thirsty.
As I started to walk down the street, my heart sinking lower and lower, as I thought about how long it would take to walk all the way to Kings Cross, I heart a beep behind me, and a car screeched and halted right next to me. "What the hell are you doing at this early morning, walking in the rain!?" a man shouted from inside the car. "Get inside this taxi straight away - you can't expect to walk all the way to wherever you're going!!"
I looked up at the man, relieved. "Oh, thank you so much! I need to get to Kings Cross, quite quickly."
"Well, get in the car," grumbled the man. He was starting to grow a grey beard and his forehead was starting to get wrinkles. He wore a cheese-cutter with a greying coat.
I jumped into the car, out of the pouring rain, and collapsed onto one of the seats.
