Chapter 3
DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS 101
I think this is the course that everyone wants to take. Even when you arrive at Hogwarts, I remember that students would be ecstatic about learning the subject. The trouble is, it isn’t as easy as you all seem to think. You may know the spell to get rid of a boggart but do you truly understand fear? (no, you don’t learn that in year 1) can you tell me how it feels when you face your boggart?
Anyway the point is, I love the subject. I couldn’t be happier when in that class. But it’s hard. And you have to think carefully.
I finished with 92% OUTSTANDING.
HERBOLOGY 101
I actually enjoy Herbology, I don’t know if I’m good at it or not. I wasn’t at school but it is something you can go outside and understand. The fact that a Lily may not be a lily is always fun to learn. The trouble I have with this class is that there are so many facts and figures to learn. PH levels, heights, climates, WHIPS levels. After a while I start asking “why do I care?”.
Luckily at school I had people that were interested in Herbology and a strict uncle but here and now I get a bit lost. I find my mind wandering as to what use this will bring me. That is until they tell us that we need Dittany for a potion or this is how you defend yourself against a deadly toxic plant.
In the end the puzzle pieces come together and you start being able to succeed in other subjects because of it.
I finished with 87% EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS.
