Me, you and him
Chapter 1
I was asked to write about the first time we “realised that we possessed magic”, most people in my class were able to talk about how they had set light to the cat or make thing move without realising. They seemed to be well known, well-rehearsed stories. Mine however was slightly different.
Unlike my father, who hadn’t known he was a wizard I had known my whole life. I had known I was magical my whole life. I could change form at will, speak to snakes and speak to the trees. Magic was something that I took for granted. I had transfigured as long as I could remember and yet our teacher (Professor McGonagall) told me that was not the sort of magic that she meant.
If I do not count the incident with the mermaids in the lake (as it was a transfiguration) then I find it very hard to remember any kind of magical incident. The only thing I came up with was exploding a clock in the Potions lab. I had to elaborate slightly when I wrote the essay, and I don’t know if it was ever verified or not. But I remember something making me jump and that being the end of it.
Why am I writing about this now? Well because Sevie is now at school and Bertie has been having the odd “accidental magic” occasion. To say we are proud is to go without saying but the basement and Weasley Wizarding Whizzes are out of bounds or restricted at the moment. For fear of more explosions. He isn't happy but we'll just wait until it passed. Exploding snap to get the anger out and we'll be fine.
It also got me thinking what other people were like. Delphi was a little more like me and it was harder to tell. But I would say levitating a baby dragon was her first accident. Charlie, I think managed to singe Percy’s hair when he was little. Might answer a few questions.
Harry I remember talking about doing things in retaliation to his Muggle Dursley family. He set a python on his cousin, blew his aunt up and levitated something although I'm not sure they were all him. He will correct me I'm sure.
