Valerians (Valeriana Officinalis)

A plant that comes from Europe & a bit of Asia. Muggles are aware of this plant, but not its magical uses. Valerian needs approximately seven hours of sunlight & needs acidic soil. Harvest the sprigs anytime you wish. The root is useful in calming potions such as the Draught of the Living Death. The sprigs can attract cats; almost like catnip & dogs hate the scent when brewed. The red valerian from the Mediterranean is not part of this group.

Lilies (Lillium)

Real lilies grow in Europe & Asia. Many groups of plants are called lilies, but are not unless it comes from Lillium. These lilies can be daylilies, water lilies, peace lilies, & lilies of the valley. This plant needs five to six hours of sunlight & the soil must be slightly acidic. Every three days, water the plant. It is poisonous & is dangerous for cats and Kneazles. Lilies react to magic very well & can grow fast.

Asphodels (Asphodelus Aestivus)

Asphodels come from the Mediterranean. The plant needs partial sunlight & a neutral type of soil. Use a drainage pot & water it occasionally. Asphodels roots can be used in sleeping potions such as the Draught of the Living Death.

Knotgrass (Polygonum Aviculare)

Knotgrass is very common around the world. This plant needs three hours of sunlight & a neutral type of soil. Water everyday; it loves lots of water. Knotgrass is a symbol of marriage & is eaten at weddings. In Polyjuice Potion, knotgrass is the most important item & was also used in fertility potions in the past.
