Lesson One: Welcome to Herbology Study Guide

Chapter 2

Herbology is important to the wizarding world. To herbologists, magical & non-magical plants are both important. All plants can be used for medicinal, protective, educational, & decorative reasons. As well, every herb, fungi, tree, & flower has special gifts. Plants can also have human & animal-like features. Using the word mundane is prohibited because it wrongly suggests that non-magical plants have little to no use, & this causes herbologists to have a wrongful opinion.

Fun Facts
The benefits of both magical & non-magical plants are to be used as potion items.
Plants in potions can be used to help the sick, to keep the environment as it intended to be, & supply sustenance.
Potioneers & healers know the dangers of certain plants, & can identify the distinction between plants.
Using a lesser celandine & a marsh marigold can lead to your patient being in a deep sleep instead of curing constipation; hence the reason to know the distinction between plants.
