Lesson Nine: Blast-Ended Skrewts Study Guide

Chapter 10

This lesson is not included in the final exam. This is just an interesting creature from the lesson to learn about.

Blast-Ended Skrewts are descendants between fire crabs & manticores. In 1965, a law was made by the Ministry of Magic to not breed new species without permission, but Hagrid got authorization for the Triwizard Tournament. These creatures have a tail that flexes out & have no eyes; they can sense you by sound. They are very fast due to their crab-like legs & has a shell; just like a crab or turtle would.

Blast-Ended Skrewts have three ways to attack; biting, stinging, & shooting fireballs. Being bit by this creature is dangerous because of its venom; check yourself for allergic reactions. Another way is by stinging; every sting inserts a bit of poison into your body. The third way of attack is to shoot fireballs; the Knockback Jinx is useless due to their aggressiveness. To defeat these creatures, you will have to quickly think of a spell & cast it upon their exposed stomach, which is soft enough to harm them. However, you may only see their stomach for a few seconds at a time. An option of attack to their stomach is to slide under them, but that is for very experienced witches and wizards.
