Quibbler: A History

The Quibbler, advertised and given the title as ‘The Wizarding World's Alternative Voice’, is a wizarding tabloid published and edited by Xenophilius Lovegood, also known to be Luna Lovegood’s father. The Quibbler is known to publish odd articles that sometimes contradict with the Prophet.

Though, many find the Quibbler foolish or ‘lunatic rag’.
The Quibbler started publishing during the 1980’s. The magazine are known to publish many ‘ridiculous’ articles, such as those on the supposed existence of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, Nargles and more. Although many found the Quibbler ‘foolish’, reading the Quibbler was actually part of sixth year Divination classes in the 1989-1990. During the peak of the terrifying Second Wizarding War, when Voldemort had successfully taken over the Ministry of Magic, The Quibbler was one of the only media outlets to proudly print out the truth and publicly support Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Thus, to fight off this dissent, the Death Eaters were ordered to abduct Luna and she was held hostage in the basement of Malfoy Manor. Due to this, Xenophilius began printing stories which advocated Harry Potter’s capture : the article titled with "Undesirable No. 1". When Harry, Hermione and Ron visited his home during the spring of 1998, Xenophilius tried to turn them in to the Ministry (which was currently ran by Death Eaters) as he was desperate to get his beloved daughter--Luna--back. But, the trio had escaped and Xenophilius was sent to Azkaban. After Voldemort's defeat, The Quibbler returned to printing its odd theories, likely including proofs of the existence of some creatures that were found by Luna, who became a well-known wizarding naturalist.
