Chapter 9
Hey everyone! I wanted to give you a quick update about my shifting attempt last night.

Last night was a pretty crazy night for me. I had a lot of stress because of the election and I got some news that some of my family had tested positive for COVID-19. So all in all, I went into trying to shift with a lot on my mind.

The first thing I did was get ready for bed. I wanted to try and put all of my anxieties from the day behind me. Then I got everything that I needed for the morning and for school the next day ready. I sent some last minute emails and put all of my school work away.

Then I edited my script. I made some additions, updated the story, and read over it all. I also wrote down a list of affirmations on a piece of paper which I put under my pillow. I found a video on YouTube that was super cool and really helpful with visualization (I will put the link at the end of this chapter). It is a 3D walkthrough of the Ravenclaw house common room. I think they have all houses but Slytherin (they are working on making it).

I decided that because I was pretty stressed that I wouldn't do a shifting DR mediation (like the ones I linked), but instead I just did a basic, anxiety and breathing one. I use the Calm app, which has a bunch of great guided mediations. If you don't know where to find good mediations, you can always use YouTube. But if you want to try and get in the habit of mediating every night/day, the Calm app is really good.

Then I put in my AirPods and started playing my subliminals playlist. I have recently started using my AirPods when I listen to my subliminals. I have the AirPods Pro, so they are noise canceling. This is really helpful because it blocks out all the noises that I would otherwise hear outside my door.

I laid flat on my back (starfish position). Using the piano method, I closed my eyes and started to picture a big hall. I tried to visualize exactly what I was wearing. When it was time for me to sit down and start playing the piano, I have to admit I was a bit distracted by my subliminals at that point. They are really helpful otherwise, but I was trying to play a certain tune in my head. I also don't play the piano, so it was a bit hard for me to visualize the notes and stuff. You can do this method if you don't play the piano, but if you do I'm guessing it just makes it a bit easier!

I can definitely feel that this was the closest I have ever gotten. When I opened my eyes I truly believed that I would be in my Ravenclaw dorm. Unfortunately, I was still in my own bedroom. I really want to try this method again tonight. This takes practice and it is so hard to get it on your first try.

Please have patience with yourself and don't give up. We will all get there eventually. Love you all.
