Lesson Seven: Fork to Quill Study Guide
Chapter 8
Fork
The different forks we use are salad forks, dessert forks, dinner forks, & oyster forks. It has a silver shine. It is smooth with four points at the tip & is connected to a handle. The fork is smooth with no bumps or sharp edges. The points are a bit sharp. It has a sharp & metallic sound when dropped. There is no taste or smell.
Quills
The type of feather that is most often used is the pheasant quill. It looks brown with stripes, has a firm spine down the center, & has bristles. It comes to a sharp tip. It makes a scraping sound when writing. It tastes almost like hair & it has an earthy smell. The bristles are harsh. The point is sharp & the spine is smooth.
Spell
A thing that can go wrong is that the color of the fork is the color of the feather, or a silver quill with mix-matched colors. You can't create a magical quill; this is due to one of Gamp's Laws. This spell was created by Arthur Scatterfield, an aggressive writer. He had a pattern of breaking his quill when he wrote.
Incantation: Scribblifors (SKRIB-leh-fors)
Wand Movement: Tap the fork twice with your wand
Concentration: Medium
Willpower: Low
Fun Facts
⊱ The less often types of quills are the eagle, peacock, fwooper, & phoenix quills.
⊱ Outside of Western custom, chopsticks are more common than forks.
⊱ Each time Arthur broke the fork, he untransfigured it, fixed the pointer of the fork, then transfigured it again.
⊱ This incantation is used for handy everyday use.
