Lesson One: Introduction to Transfiguration Study Guide

Chapter 2

Transfiguration is a very detailed type of magic & you can cause trouble if you do not do it properly. Essentially, you are changing the entire foundation of an item to create an entire new object. There are four branches of transfiguration. They are Transformation, Vanishment, Conjuration, & Untransfiguration.

The Transformation Formula Variables

Transfiguration magic can be dangerous if something goes wrong with the spell. The object can stop transforming completely if the spell fails to impact it. Ultimately, the object would only transform halfway.

t The intended transfiguration difficulty
w Wand power
c Concentration
v Viciousness
a The mass of the beginning item
z The unknown variable

Fun Facts
If the item is 0 viciousness, all atomic movements have stopped.
It is not achievable to bring an item to a cool temperature.
No one is able to quantify the z variable because it can exist & not exist at the same time.
The bigger the t variable, the easier the spell will be whereas the smaller it is, the harder the spell gets.
