History Of Chaos Magic And Importance Of Mentors In Magic
Chapter 4
This is not a long chapter. The history of this branch of magic is not very long. The concept of Chaos magic was discovered in the 1970's and is a slow moving movement. Most that practice do not do so openly as other branches so the information is scarce even to me. Most magic users create a Book of Shadows or other book of spells and beliefs they gather. They do not pass it on to strangers and only to apprentices if those apprentices are lucky. I was not lucky enough to have a master or anyone else willing to help me. The concept of this magic was created in the 1880's and started as a random theory about the concepts of randomness in the universe. Then evolved into the concept of the Butterfly effect we have today. The problem with the original theories of this magic was they were mostly made on the non-magical side. Though this particular magic study is young, it has a history of causing events and problems. Most notably have been more in North America. The Magical Council in America has some interactions with outside magical communities, but like most it keeps to it's self during times of trouble. The American council while in the middle of a small Vampire war managed to find two Chaos users born with natural ability who could control their powers. One was myself and the other was my mother. The ability to control the power is passed down through the family but the instability of child is more likely in the younger years if the parent is not there to actually help the child along.
If one learns the magic they are twice as likely to gain instability if not train properly. They will be twice as strong than those with a natural ability if they are able to control it. This is a long shot since most users don't make it very long in the training because of carelessness. Mentors are important because they can help the student focus usually long enough to be able to rein themselves in. Mentors should be able to shield their students from everything but the most lethal spells.
No real research is put into Chaos magic because of the lack of users who are not insane or do not know how to control their powers.
