Chapter 2
“Are you ok? Perhaps you should tell your father that something has happened he won’t be happy but, as it’s you.”
“No, no, I’m fine. I’ll get back to the school. I’ll use the Floo network. It’s antiquated but at least it will get me there. Where’s Draco? and George?”
“Ministry I expect. The Weasleys? What do you want with them?” His look was of great contempt. He had never liked my friendship with the Weasleys. Maybe this ran deeper than Cedric staying alive. I got back to the headmaster’s office... headmistresses office.
“Sorry to burst in Professor Umbridge, it was needed. I’m afraid I must speak to Scorpius Malfoy” I tried to make my tone as sincere as possible. I had to find Scorpius, we had to put this right.
“Of course, anything to help, he is in the dungeons I believe.” She bowed and I continued down the stairs.
As I walked it seemed as though people were muttering things to each other. Each person was walking, no, running away from me. I didn’t like this person that was married to Cedric.
“Mother?” a voice called to me. “why are you here? I thought…” I looked at the girl up, and down. She was about 15 with a Prefect badge pinned to her Slytherin robes.
“I need to see Scorpius. He was in trouble.”
“You can’t mother he is with Professor Snape.” I was taken aback. No child of mine had ever spoken to me like that before. She was so sure of herself. and the words Professor Snape cut through me like glass.
“Then I will see HIM too. Miss Diggory. Get out of my way, oh and your father says hello.” I had a feeling that I would be angry with my daughter no matter what sort of person I was. But the problem was that I couldn’t risk picking out a name in case I got the wrong one. Would I have named her Severina? Was she my first-born daughter? There were loads of unexplained things to handle and this was not the time.
I went down to the Potions lab, to where we had always spent our days and, there I heard the dulcet tones of my uncle’s voice coming through the door.
