A Fluke

Chapter 4

Well the four friends were now in their sixth year. They all remembered the dramatic events of last year. They all were over it though. Besides it didn't affect them much. With the exception of James. And it only affected him because it affected a certain red-headed and green eyed girl.

Lily Evans was a mess. She had had three months to reflect upon what her once best-friend Severus Snape had said to her. Mudblood. He had called her a mudblood.

He had tried to apologize so many times. That it was just an accident. A fluke. He didn't mean it.

Lily didn't care though. She knew it would happen sooner or later. It was bound to happen. She was honestly shocked it had not happened sooner though considering the people he spent time with.

She was sitting in an empty compartment. It's not like she preferred to be alone. It was the fact that no other prefects had arrived.

Just then the compartment door opened and who would just happen to walk in? Of course. The boy that had just been on her mind. Severus Snape.

"Lily..." He said when he saw her.

"Save it Snape. I don't want to here it," Lily said angrily.

"Lily c'mon you know I didn't mean to say that. How many times have I-"

" I believe Evans told you to leave her alone Snivellus."

Of course. James Potter. The two boys she disliked most right now. Just her luck.

"And I believe Potter that this is the prefect's compartment. So if anyone should leave it should be you," Snape sneered.

"Oh really because I-"

"Enough! The both of you just shut up! I have a suggestion. Why don't you both leave. Because I don't like either of you, and I don't want to be anywhere near either of you," Lily snapped.

Snape looked hurt by the words but James just shrugged it off. He had gotten used to the insults of Lily Evans. It wasn't new to him.

"See you around then Lily," Snape muttered as he retreated out of the compartment.

But James did not leave. Instead he stood there staring at Lily.

"Go away Potter," Lily growled. " I don't want to see your face. You're the reason I lost my best-friend. It's all your fault."

Lily knew it wasn't really his fault. But she had to blame someone. And it was easier to yell at him then it was to yell at Snape.

"Oh yeah blame it on me. It's my fault. Everything's my fault. And nothing is ever Snape's fault. No because Snape's a little saint. I forgot. But face it Evans, it's not my fault he called you... you-know-what," James spluttered angrily and stormed out.

Lily sighed and sat back down. She could feel tears forming in her eyes but she didn't know why. She hated him. She hated James Potter.
