Giure Grando

Chapter 2
It might interest you to read my essay about Giure Grando was a villager that lived between 1579 and 1656 in the town of Kringa, the region of Istria in modern-day Croatia. It is rumoured that he may be one of the first in their historical records to be described as a vampire. He is referred to as a sorcerer, however that is a local word that only resembles a vampire and a warlock, in the Venetian language.
He was very famous because there is much written about him and how the local people had to get rid of him. They say that he died from an illness and rose from his grave at night and terrorised the villagers as a vampire. I doubt that it was very sinister as he would have only been searching for food and possibly to look for his children.

He was known to the muggle world for all of his exploits and all that he was doing at the time. He was eventually killed after the local father of the church pierced his heart with a hawthorn stick. After having conducted some exorcism prayers the villagers, muggle and wizarding alike, proceeded to decapitate his body. Boris Peric, later went to write a full article on the story and researched the legend in further detail. In which he wrote all about his life in the The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola. This was the first written document on vampires. Due to this is son and daughter fled the town to Italy. It is possible they were also magical as well. I have already used it in my lessons so don’t try and copy. You never know something could be wrong!!!
