Chapter 1: Secrets
Chapter 1
Young Princess Elsa sat in her cold room (or at least cold to normal people), bored as per the norm, when she heard quick footsteps in the hallway outside. Outside. Outside of the cold room. She groaned, the thought swarming her mind that this was probably just another hoax from Anna to get her to go outside and play. If only... she thought.
It was Anna, her youthful voice muffled through the door. "Elsa!" Elsa rolled her eyes, unnecessary anger forming towards her sister, but she knew it wasn't Anna's fault. She blamed it on herself. "Anna... You fully well know what the answer is." Elsa could feel the disappointment emanating from Anna through the door.
"Ok... But I've got a secret.," Anna whispered slyly, and so low that Elsa almost didn't hear it. "Ooh! What is it? Spill the beans!:" This was the first time she had gotten this excited in a year. It was like a custom to exchange secrets between the Arendelle sisters. "Remember..." Anna reminded her, "that you have to tell me a secret before I tell you mine."
Curse the sister code, Elsa thought, biting her lip, trying to think of a secret of hers that wasn't having the power of snow and ice at her will. Even if she pretended that she had these unique powers, Anna had the power of believing everything she heard, so that was out of the question.
Suddenly one secret came to mind, and Elsa took the risky chance of Anna asking for details. "Every time you've asked if I wanted to go out and play, I only said no because... Well... Because I think the snow is too cold!" Elsa said a word that would surely have her grounded if she already technically wasn't.
Anna seemed a little disappointed in the simple secret, but took it anyway. She slipped a piece of paper under the cursed door. "Momma and Papa didn't want you to see this, but I decided to show you anyway." Elsa picked the envelope up, and stared at the strange symbol on it as the quick footsteps returned and Anna disappeared down the hall.
