THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Chapter 2
Delorah began trudging through the leaves, tears still streaming down her pale cheeks. A cold wind nearly swept her off her feet, causing her to defy gravity. She clutched her cloak for dear life, as if it would keep her feet on the earth's floor. She soon came to a steep slope, almost crashing down it as she tipped towards the edge. Careful not to stumble, Delorah slowly stepped down the hill. She didn't fall until she reached the bottom of the slope, where she tumbled down what was left of the way. She twisted her ankle, but that didn't matter now. She had to continue on.
Proceeding with care, she soon reached a patch of birch trees. There were plenty of animals living in the pleasant little forest; squirrels, birds, salamanders, and even goats. When Delorah looked down at the water, she saw a trapped baby axolotl. Careful not to harm it, she freed it's tail from under a rock.
