It was a cold, cold October night. The wind howled, and the leaves swirled at Delorah's feet. She hugged her cloak, hoping it would keep her arms warm. The full moon was bright in the dark, starless night sky. Delorah trudged through the dark, going against the wind's will to go back. Orange and brown leaves were littering the air, sticking to Delorah's cloak. Not bothering to pick any off, she continued walking down the gravel path. She'd soon be at the Warth, then back to where she truly belonged. Her long, sleek black hair flowed behind her, and her bright blue eyes seemed to glow. She picked up the pace, seeing Marianna and Tomas already at the Warth. As she arrived, she heard the whispering of her fellow inmates. Delorah slowly stopped, and making sure to not crunch on any leaves, she slowly backed behind a tree.
"I just don't know, Tomas," Marianna said. "She's helped us through a lot. Is it really right to leave her behind?"
"Sure, maybe she helped us once or twice," Tomas responded. "But do you know how many times she has gotten us caught? She does us no good! We must go without her."
"But Tomas-"
"NO!" Tomas whipped around so fast it made Marianna's head spin. "We will NOT bring her with us. She can go on her own, and I'm leaving her behind with or without you. I don't care what you do, but Delilah's just...you know what, she's just not going with us. And that's FINAL!"
Hot tears streamed down Delilah's face. She didn't think she was so much trouble. Tomas stormed off while Marianna stood there, stunned. But, soon enough, she raced off after him too. Delilah came out from behind the tree and held her hand out towards her inmates. She thought about racing after them, but they were too far by now. She could make this journey on her own.
