Ravenclaw
Chapter 1
Way back when I was first introducing myself, I wrote about myself and the fact that a long time ago (September 1990 to be precise) I was sorted, just like my mother into the house of Godric Gryffindor and yet I am the heir to Salazar Slytherin, a fact many still seem puzzled over. In September 2020 my daughter Severina Weasley went to Hogwarts, and like her mother and grandmothers before her she too was sorted into Gryffindor, the house of the brave, the fire and the lion.
I have also written about how I would have been had I have been placed in different houses. I found out at one time what Severina Weasley would have been if she had not been in Gryffindor and I was surprised to find that she would have been in Ravenclaw. She was still the same person but different qualities were highlighted upon. I can see why. I was always close to the Grey Lady and she is intelligent, accepting, competitive and she is very much like Luna was when she was young.
The Ravenclaw common room is in one of the castle’s towers and is wide and circular, not dissimilar to Gryffindor. It has its own library section and a ceiling that looks like the night sky. You do have to climb a tight spiral staircase to get there. It has graceful arched windows, and the walls are hung with blue and bronze silks. I only went in once but it gave me the feeling of being sick. It is the only common room in which a logical riddle is given by a bronze eagle-shaped knocker (something my kids love). Proving your worth as a Ravenclaw and learning something at the same time. If you do not know it however, you will have to wait for someone to answer it correctly.
I had no worries about her. She was never going to be alone and she was always going to have family in the house she was placed. Which do I think is the better choice? I’m not sure. In my experience our houses bring out the strength of character that we need to build on later in life. I am proud to have her as a Ravenclaw and as a Gryffindor. I just want her to be happy.
