When you start any new course the teacher always wants to know one important thing. Why do you want to study this course, forgetting that 90% of the time it is because you have to or because you were pressured into it. This was my reply to most of my lessons. Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts etc... It was more about when we had to start making the bigger questions and deciding which electives to take that it became a little more intense. I opted to take Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures & Muggle Studies. My answer to this question was a little predictable.

ANCIENT RUNES: I enjoy learning new languages. It was this or Divination and frankly I would prefer to learn about something that can be used in Potions and in Curse Breaking than I would learn about Divination, which is quite antiquated.

CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES: I am very happy to start Care of Magical Creatures. I think it would be something I will be good at and highly enjoy.

MUGGLE STUDIES: I am a half-blood. Both of my grandfathers were muggles and I have grown up surrounded in a completely magical world. I would like to learn about the world outside of the wizarding world and to understand what life was like for them without magic.

For my N.E.W.T.s I enrolled in Alchemy, which came as no surprise to anyone.

ALCHEMY: You may think that it is due to the fact that, you told me I had do take Alchemy as an elective but it isn’t. I’m quite capable of making my own decisions, as you very well know. The reason I want to take Alchemy is because I took one of your books from the HBP collection in the basement and started reading over the summer. I was far too interested. I think this must be how Karluch and Garit heal with such ease. Anyway, this is already getting far too long. I look forward to studying it uncle. I’m ready.
