Aconite
Chapter 12
Aconite (Aconitum)
AKA: Monkswood, Wolfsbane, Leopard's bane, women's bane, blue rocket, the devil's helmet, or "the queen of poisons"
Climate:
- forests and mountain ranges of moderate temperature
- likes dark, fluffy, nutritious soil
- shady areas
Appearance:
- A pretty, unassuming flowering plant
Properties:
- it's poisonous (if you haven't figured it out already)
- poisonous sedative, deadly in even small doses
- death can occur within 2-6 hrs of exposure
- stage one of dying includes nausea, diarrhea and vomiting
- stage two includes burning, tingling and numbness in abdomen, mouth and face
- stage three includes sweating, dizziness, confusion, headaches, and trouble breathing
- stage four never happens because you are already dead
Uses:
- to kill
- to slow the heart rate
- to kill
Safety:
- always wear dragon-hide gloves when handling
- never handle with open wounds
- if it does get into wounds, apply the antidote (antropine), and go to St. Mungo's IMMEDIATELY, (but you'll probably still die anyway)
