Wizarding Schools - Uagadou
Did you know that there are many wizarding schools all throughout the world? Of course, we all know about Hogwarts, but there are ten more prestigious wizarding schools scattered across the continents. Some smaller schools occasionally pop up, but they are most often short-lived and not very successful.
Today we will be focusing on the largest of these long-established schools, Uagadou (pronounced Wag-a-doo). It is located somewhere in Africa and it educates all students living on the continent, which is probably the reason why it is so big. It is said to be housed in the "Mountains of the Moon," The appearance of the school is said to be stunning, being carved out of the mountainside and surrounded in mist, making it appear almost as if it is floating.
Uagadou employs a method of pupil selection that is unique from all other wizarding schools. Students who are accepted at Uagadou will be made aware that they have been accepted by a Dream Messenger, which is sent by the current headmaster or headmistress of the school. While they are asleep, the Dream Messenger will appear to them in a dream and leave a token for the child to find when they awake. Usually, this is an inscribed stone, but on rare occasions, it is some other object of significance.
The method of spellcasting is also unique at Uagadou; the majority of spells are cast by hand gestures because wands originated in Europe, so they are not used as much. This leads to amusing scenes when a student is accused of breaking the International Statute of Secrecy. The pupil can merely say, "I was only waving, I never meant for his chin to fall off."
Pupils who graduate from Uagadou are very proficient in Alchemy, Astronomy, and Self-Transfiguration. One celebrated student from this school is Babajide Akingbade, who succeeded Albus Dumbledore as the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards.
Uagadou sounds like a very interesting, prestigious, and fun school to gain a magical education at!

How to make Felix Felicis: The Luck Potion
Zygmunt Budge invented this potion.
Step by step Instructions:
Put four mint leaves in the cauldron, stir six times clockwise, wave your wand, then let the potion brew for 40 minutes.
Put 5 drops of absinthe in the cauldron. Take 2 unicorn horns in the mortar and crush into a fine powder.
Add 6 measures of the crushed unicorn horn to the cauldron.
Heat for 15 seconds over low heat, wave your wand to complete this part of the potion.
Now add 2 measures of Mercury and Mars to the cauldron.
Add 4 fairy wings for the mortar, crushed to a fine powder, then add 2 measures of the flattened wings to the cauldron.
Heat for 30 seconds at a high temperature, Wave your wand after you have stopped brewing the potion for twenty-four hours, and Wave your wand to complete the potion. Then enjoy the luck, but use it sparingly and wisely!

Hunger Games Characters in Hogwarts Houses
The Hunger Games is a very well known trilogy. If you don’t know what it is, basically 24 children fight to the death until one remains. Today, I’m going to sort the main characters from the books (no spoilers) into houses!
Katniss Everdeen- Gryffindor! Katniss is very brave and is a fighter. Unlike if she was a Slytherin, she only kills for her survival. The reason she volunteers for the Games is to protect her sister, Primrose.
Peeta Mellark- Hufflepuff! Peeta is kind and sweet. He is always trying to protect Katniss and he wants the best for her. Peeta doesn’t want Katniss to risk her life for him.
Gale Hawthorne- Slytherin! Gale is very brave but it comes from a bad place. He is willing to let innocent people die for change. It’s just like the Hunger Games. President Snow & Gale may have some things in common.
Haymitch Abernathy- Ravenclaw! Even though Haymitch is an alcoholic, he actually has a lot of intelligence. He managed to survive the Games and that takes intelligence or brute strength. Haymitch is an alcoholic because he has trauma from being in the Games so that must mean he won with intelligence! Also, as a mentor he has to come up with strategies for the tributes so they can win!
Primrose Everdeen- Hufflepuff! Prim doesn’t want to anyone to get hurt. She wants to be a healer or a medic. Prim can’t even kill animals for food.
Effie Trinket-Slytherpuff! At the beginning of the series, Effie believes everything the Capitol says and constantly complains about being in a bad district. As the series continues, she gets nicer and more understanding.
President Snow- Slytherin! President Snow is the evilest character of the whole series. When he is President, he could stop the Games but he doesn’t. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes gives us an insight into 18 year old Snow’s life and he hasn’t changed one bit.
Cinna- Gryffindor! Even though Cinna is the kindest person ever he is being sorted into Gryffindor. He constantly rebels the Capitol and even creates the Mockingjay, the leader of the rebellion!
That’s all the most important characters sorted! Do you agree? Comment in the readers group your opinions!

Creature Profile: Hippocampus
Most people have heard of the Hippogriff, but not many people have heard of its aquatic relative the Hippocampus. I say “relative” because a Hippogriff is part horse just like the Hippocampus is part horse, so they likely have some common evolutionary ancestor.
Hippocampi (the correct plural of hippocampus according to the Care of Magical Creatures professors) are most commonly found in the Medditerrean Sea, but there six species found throughtout the world.
Unfortunately, you can’t keep a Hippocampus as a pet because they don’t do well in captivity.
The Hippocampus has been featured in Greek mythology and even the Percy Jackson series.
For even more information beyond this general overview, take Care of Magical Creatures.

"That little git," Ginny started.
“Gin," I said.
"Yes?" she asked, cutting her rant short.
"Let's just go school supply shopping without him today, okay?"
She stared at me blankly for a moment, she blinked as her eyes changed to thoughtful as if she remembered our plans. I sat up out of Mrs. Weasley's arms.
"Thank you," I told Mrs. Weasley sincerely. I looked up at her. She was still thinking about Ron, I could tell.
"He is going to come back," I whispered to her softly.
I understood how she felt. She lost Fred just a few months ago; she is worried she will lose Ron too.
A painful memory popped into my mind; when we were hunting Horcruxes... Ron left us. But, the important, no, crucial part is that he came back, for me.... for Harry. He saved his life, the memory turned from salty to sweet.
How could I stay mad at the person that saved my best friend's life? "Molly?" I asked her to bring it into reality.
"Yes?" she asked, oblivious to me and Ginny's conversation.
"School supply shopping. Do you want to apparate to Flourish and Blotts?" I asked calmly.
"Yes of course" Mrs. Weasley replied.
With three loud pops, they were gone. Pop. We appeared in Flourish and Blotts. Some book shopping would definitely cheer me up. I scanned the aisles looking for school books for Ginny and I.
Ginny and Mrs. Weasley said goodbye as they began their search for used robes.
I could be in there for hours and I was. I got all the books on the list and a few more for independent studies.
That’s one of the things I hated about Ron, he never took school seriously. I checked out at the register and the cashier was gawking at me. Her mouth on the floor.
“A-are you” she stuttered.
”Yes, Hermione Jean Granger, and I am in a hurry.” I said trying to move face. I usually have long conversations with my “fans”, but I was in a rush. She looked down.
“Right” she stated apologetically, spots of red forming on her cheeks. I placed the books into my beaded bag.
“Thank you so much,” I said sincerely, trying to make up for my rudeness.
The cashier nodded, a smile back on her face.
I finished the rest of my shopping relatively quickly, grabbing only the necessities (except for the 10 extra quills and rolls of parchment.)
I walked down Diagon Alley admiring the families. I missed my family, and Ron, we had already planned to have a family.
I prayed I would find it in my heart to forgive him, I can, I will. I considered different things to say to him; different scenarios. I stopped in front of a store with a big red door that had moving portraits of animals.
This is something in the wizarding world that I will never get used to. I walked into the store. Many different animals flew around. The fish shop looks small on the outside but was enchanted. So the actual size was close to a muggle shopping market.
I looked around in awe. Originally all of these pets were in cages and the shop was dull.
Now the cats are snuggling around the store in comfortable beds. The toads are bouncing around the large ponds. Rats were scurrying around tubes, and owls were swooping around the 100-foot ceiling, and landing on perches.
I had to pull myself away from all the improvements and focus and what I was here for; a cat and an owl.
Head girls and boys are required to bring their owls, so they got to bring another pet as well (if they so desired).
I wanted to look for a cat first.
I slowly approached the cat area. It’s filled with tall trees, snuggly beds, and tall cat towers.
They were similar to muggle ones choosing a cat similar to selecting a wand in the fashion that you don't get a choice, the wand, or in this case, the cat does.
I cautiously stood in front of them.
They were all so beautiful. One reminded me of my last cat Crookshanks. She died during the war... The cats stopped what they were doing and looked at me. Evaluating myself and my every move. Eventually one ambled my way.
Out of the thirty or so that were there, this was the only Calico cat. He was brown, orange, and grey, with beautiful patches that covered his fur. This cat had chosen me! I already loved him so much.
I reached out my hand cautiously and let him sniff it. He purred and jumped into my arms, flipped over, and spread out his legs. Then I got a cat tower for him.
I had enough galleons because we got paid by the Ministry for our service. It wasn't much because they are still drowning in restoration costs.
Getting an owl worked the same way. I walked over to the perches thirty minutes later. I left with my new cat named Peter and a barn owl named Oli, In memory of Ollivander who died a month ago.
His nephew is taking over the family business. It was dark and getting late so I went to find the others.
Ginny and Mrs. Weasley were not a hard bunch to spot with their bright red hair.
They were also shopping and had stopped at the Leaky cauldron for butterbeer.
I waited until they were done and apparated home.
We had all hoped Ron was home but he wasn't. We ate dinner in a hurry, excited to pack for school the next day.
I am like a Ravenclaw in many ways. I am smart, wise, and organized.
So, packing is one of my favorite things to do. I fully folded each of my clothes into a neat stack, each the same as the last (this is common for me.)
I stare at my almost full and perfectly organized Hogwarts trunk.
I close the latch on the trunk and push it to the side of the room. I look over my shoulder to see Ginny staring at me.
"Why didn't you use magic for that?" She asks, genuinely confused. "It would have been a hundred times faster."
“It’s very therapeutic to do it manually," I respond.
"Oh,” Ginny says.
"Need any help?" I ask.
"Yeah, that would be great… With magic, if you don't mind.” Ginny says, smiling.
I laugh, I love Ginny. She has got to be one of my favorite people in the world. I wake up the next morning with a huge smile on my face.
"It's September first," I whisper to myself.
