Chapter 1
Today I received an unexpected owl. It made me do two things. The first was to stop in my tracks. The second was to think about my own mother.
Everyone knows that I had a very different experience at Hogwarts to most other people. I am sure that there were people that had parents that were professors, maybe were teased for it, maybe were really annoyed by it. My experience of what to do with Delphi and Sevie really all came down to listening to Molly, Fleur, Audrey, Astoria, Angelina, Hermione, Ginny, Narcissa & Andromeda.
Don’t write too often. Don’t be over the top. Make them feel inclusive. I had no idea what that meant. My idea of being in a family was me and uncle. That was it. I had no idea what it meant to have a mother and yet I knew exactly how Delphi felt, having lost hers.
Sevie has been at Hogwarts for 3 weeks now so I assumed she was getting the hang of things, the way things moved when you didn’t expect them to, the secret passages, getting stuck, and general torment. But I hadn’t expected this.
Mum,
I’m having a wonderful time, so please don’t worry. Fred and Lily are fun, and I mad a friend but I really miss you. People ask about Uncle George and Uncle Harry and Aunty Hermione. Albus and Scorpius are really quiet. I wish they would talk to me. I miss Dad and Bertie too but I really miss you. Please write soon.
