In April 2006 Charlie, Delphi and I received news that the Potter family were going to be adding to their family and that it was going to be a boy. We were living in Romania at the time and were soon to relocate to Sweden when I received another owl. Eight-year-old Delphi grabbed the letter from the aged owl and opened it up. It is rare that I ever get anything addressed to me. For once I did have something.

Hope you are all well. Thank you for the little Dragon, James loves it. Mum and Dad are well and looking forward to you all coming closer. We wanted to ask you something that we have been talking about but not ever managing to say to you. As you know James is James Sirius and we wanted to call this one Albus Severus Potter. If you don’t want us to, we understand. Please don’t think that we want to dishonour your uncle. We want to honour him. Let us know what you think. Give it time, we don’t expect an owl straight away.

My tears were instant. I had always remembered the way that Harry would speak about Severus in the common room. The words “I hate Snape, worst teacher ever” and “not double potions with Snape” were often uttered there or at the Gryffindor table. I remember Delphi being really concerned when she saw me crying and ran to Charlie as soon as he arrived home. “She’s crying! She got a letter and now she’s crying! What happened? She won’t tell me!” I placed the letter in his hands and walked away.

CHARLIE: what do you want to say?

LOUISA: Even if we had a child, a son, I don’t think I could call it Severus.

CHARLIE: So, you’d agree.

LOUISA: What is there to agree or not to agree to? He’s their son. His name will be Albus Severus Potter. I think it sounds nice. I think he will be intelligent, and perhaps a Slytherin.

CHARLIE: Why?

LOUISA: They’re using Severus, aren’t they? And he’s not even born yet! Dumbledore was cunning and they’ve changed the Slytherin standards now so perhaps even I would have been put in Slytherin.

CHARLIE: doubt it. You were friends with a ton of Hufflepuffs and did care of magical creatures

LOUISA: was the only heir at the time and spoke parseltongue.

DELPHI: did it make you upset, to see the letter?

LOUISA: No Delphi, they’re happy tears.

DELPHI: That’s stupid. You shouldn’t cry when you’re happy and sad.

CHARLIE: Yeah but that happens like that. Think of the phoenix.

DELPHI: Good tears, yeah, I know.
