Interview with Yaxley
Chapter 2
YAXLEY: “Good, you’re here. We can start the interview. I see you’ve graduated Hogwarts. How are you doing about that.” (His voice was nasty.)
LOUISA SNAPE: “Now, now Yaxley” (she taps her fingers, her gaze dark.) You know full well that I graduated. And I will be trained as an Auror.
YAXLEY: I never said I didn’t know, Miss Snape. (He was particularly nasty with the Snape part.)
YAXLEY was one of the Death Eaters that didn’t like that I didn’t have the name of Riddle or Voldemort but professed to be the Dark the Lord’s daughter. There were many like that. I imagine that to them it meant that I had denounced the name of my father and wanted to be with my mother instead. In part I don’t blame them. There were many that had sacrificed a lot in Azkaban and tried to get him back. To them, I was proof that Severus Snape was not among them. But it wasn’t like that.
She looked at him with the most-dead pan face. Her skin had turned pale white her hair almost jet black as opposed to her usual colourful self.
LOUISA SNAPE: “Why don't we cut this short. you know who I am and you know what the Dark Lord wants said about me. If you value your life... well maybe you don't then we can just get through the necessary. He will listen to me and I may be one of the few he will listen to. If you don't like my name I suggest you taking it up with my father.”
YAXLEY: “Oh, Miss Snape. I never said anything about that. So, you just said on a Daily Prophet news article, you know The Dark Lord.” (He got really close to her, so that this part couldn’t be heard by the audience.) “And remember I do this on The Lord’s orders, so he knows, he wants me to say this, you better behave yourself Miss Snape.”
LOUISA SNAPE stands up and walks in front of Yaxley smiling
LOUISA SNAPE: "Yaxley, Yaxley, Yaxley, did I scare you?" (It is obvious that she has learnt a thing or two from Bellatrix Lestange) "is this intimidating for you?" She moves in closer "Perhaps I should tell my father on you Yaxley" (finally all that is left is smoke and a laugh that resembles that of the Dark Lord).
"Do what I want or die. It's your choice and yes he will know it was you who said wonderful things about me.
YAXLEY: “Trying to play dark on me. I know you don’t have the guts to kill me. You would never mean it, and your father. He shall not kill me, I’m a crucial part of the Ministry. An unknown part.” He made a malicious grin. “Let’s get back to the interview, shall we. So, you were telling me, how are you feeling now that you have graduated? The people want to know.”
LOUISA SNAPE sat on the desk in front of her. With her back to YAXLEY but a typewriter clicking in the distance.
LOUISA SNAPE: “Hmm .... how am I feeling. You want to know how I am feeling… ?
Saddened by the death of Professor Dumbledore and happy to be able to have been recruited by Kingsley Shacklebolt and Pius Thicknesse into the Auror training programme. And you're right I wouldn't kill you. but I have learnt that there are far …worse… things.”
YAXLEY: “I’m not who I am, to be stopped by a simple curse, or crucio. Well. You are not happy, to be an auror?”
(she could feel her heart thumping harder than ever inside her chest)
LOUISA SNAPE: “nervous probably. it's a lot of... expectations”
YAXLEY: “Ah, okay.” He said this nastier than ever. “What would you think your mother would say about who you are today?”
Finally, they had reached the point that Narcissa had warned me about. I wondered if my mother was something my father feared. Grieving and death is something I have had trouble getting over but I have managed to get. My mother is and will always be a subject of great controversy for Death Eaters. They love to talk about her between themselves because they know that it is a subject myself, the Dark Lord and my Uncle hate to talk about.
LOUISA SNAPE: “I have no idea but probably something like “It's all thanks to Severus that she is even alive”.
YAXLEY: “Mm okay. So, you are not even sure if she is proud. Okay. How do you think your father feels about you? Probably really proud of all the good you have done. All the helping aurors, or Harry Potter supporters.” She’s voice was sour, so so sour, he had enjoyed this so much.
LOUISA SNAPE: (she gives her best Hufflepuff smile) “Oh that's right you weren't there. You see like the article it was his idea for Lucius and Pius to get me in so your job is to write a nice piece. I'm sure he won't mind you writing about my mother. say something about me being a reflection of her.”
YAXLEY: “I’m not sure, he never told me that. And I trust the Dark Lord completely. Can’t say that because you are not. It’ll make him sad, and angry. Why do you think you are a reflection of her?”
LOUISA SNAPE: “1) I'm a metamorphmagus. 2) a Gryffindor 3) I was raised by my mother's brother. Does that give your readers confidence enough? or do you need more...?”
YAXLEY: “Nah, that’s just superficial. I think my readers would want to know emotions, pain, that’s what makes you a reflection.”
(She pauses for a moment)
LOUISA SNAPE: “pain... I can tell you Yaxley about more pain than you have ever known. I watched my mother be killed, I waited for a boyfriend not to return, self-harmed and yet the most painful of all is sitting here listening to you drown on about how this is all for the Dark Lord.”
YAXLEY: Faith you have not. Impatient, I see. So, you are pained by the fact that you will NEVER be like your mother. She was the beautiful good woman, but are you that? Don’t test me on pain, child. I assure you you don’t know much.”
LOUISA SNAPE: I wish that were true. (her voice defeated) This is the face of my mother that you say was good and true. (she transfigures to Severina Snape) I was put into the same house as her but I consider myself... just like me.(she transfigures back) I am the last piece of your puzzle. Consider me a gift. (her eyes look like a snake) *Be patient.* I believe he wants to speak you.”
YAXLEY: “If my Lord does, I shall speak with him, after the interview. Well, Miss Snape, you have certainly enlightened us. For you shall NOT be like your mother. Pain is dark isn’t it? The thought of your father being disappointed in you. For all of the bright things you have done. The good things. Only weak people dwell in pain. Strong people like My Lord forget pain, and transform it into strength. A quality you have not. He would have never sounded defeated.
LOUISA SNAPE: I'm sure. But my Parents left me before they could raise me. And I am brought up with the greatest actor. 5pm at the Manor, don't be late.
(she turns and leaves)
YAXLEY: Wait Miss Snape. You just declared your uncle an actor, a liar. I’ll be there. That brings the interview to an end. Our readers will like what you have to say.
So sorry I haven’t said anything! If you want, I can also do an opening paragraph for this one.
(oh yes that would be great)
LOUISA SNAPE: “the greatest actor. Dumbledore never suspected him. The perfect ruse wouldn't you say?”
YAXLEY: “He didn’t suspect him? Maybe, who knows. Dumbledore’s a man of many secrets. I bid you farewell Miss Snape (or shall I say Riddle) I have important things to do, more important than chatting with you about a man I care not of.” *He made a nasty grin, and got up from his chair*
