Dilemma
Chapter 1
You could say that on the 2nd May 1998 there were two slightly less popular people that reached the Room of Requirement. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were amongst the most popular of course Kingsley Shacklebolt, Remus Lupin, Oliver Wood, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, Bill and Fleur and Mr and Mrs Weasley. So much was going on that night that it was genuinely hard to keep up with all the new arrivals. Getting the younger kids evacuated was the greatest task and we were glad to have a plan. Even if it was jus between ourselves.
The less popular people were me and Percy. From an outsider’s perspective I can see that we were both, at the time working for the Ministry, Percy as a Secretary and me as an Auror in training. Whilst the more experienced witches and wizards were protecting the school and fortifying it, we were getting everyone out. As many as we could. It didn’t take long either. We used whatever means we could. When I went back, I found all the Weasley happily embracing Percy. It was nice to see.
I had always been sure, all the time of the side I was on. But this time I wasn’t. It was the first time that I had been utterly lost as to whose side I should stand on. By now it wasn’t as though there was a right and wrong for me. It came down to friends or family.
What did I choose?
I think I chose both. I chose to stay and let’s face it, whichever side won it meant that I lost either way. I either lost my friends, my family or people that were potential family to be. But I’d already lost so many people by that point that it really didn’t matter.
“NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILE THE OVER SURVIVES” was what the prophecy foretold I was to lose my father or my friend. That much was clear. I had to be ready to lose them all. I’ve never been good at taking sides. Neither was my mother, unfortunately we see the good in everyone and so we try and believe that the good is there even if we do not always trust it.
