Chapter 2
She went to the bar and he gave her a Butterbeer from a different glass to the ones he had at the time.
“They coming in Lou?” asked the barman.
“Shouldn’t think so, I told them to leave. One seemed fairly hammered so I doubt he’ll come back. They been given
you trouble?”
“The whole lot of them, nothing but trouble. Plus, there’s the curfew coming in, but at least you warned me I ‘spose.”
“Yeah I know. But I’ve got a favour to ask.” She looked guilty. Asking more of Aberforth could be asking too much.
“The entrance I used to use”, she looked at the picture of Ariana on the wall.
“what about it?” his tone was questioning, strong and forced.
“they’re making me give them all the passageways into Hogwarts.”
“Their making you? didn’t THEY could MAKE you do anything!” Aberforth was almost shouting.
“Does it matter? I need to make sure the students can get out. Will you do it?”
“Yeah, they can come here, how you getting in?”
“Front door or Floo” her eyes hadn’t moved from the painting but she “I’m not liking it Aberforth but I know the ways they plan on…teaching. It’s not fun. I need to help”
“You’ll need to do more than that. What are you planning on the inside?”
“I don’t know. I really don’t. I still have friends Ginny, but after…” she couldn’t carry on. She wanted to explain about Dumbledore, that it wasn’t their fault.
“I know.” Came Aberforth’s reply. She hadn’t even said anything.
“He told me what you were doing for him, what you and your uncle were doing. That he was sick. If you ask me, he was a damn fool and he shouldn’t have asked you. Wasn’t fair not on either of you. But he’s always been like it and you know it. I bet you I’ll get Potter telling me he asked him to do stuff for him as well.”
“I’m sure he did but I don’t know more. You know I don’t.”
“Thanks, I have to go now. Even I can’t be late.” As she left the Hogshead and made her way to Hogwarts she took a coin out of her pocket and sent a message on it:
NEVILLE, GINNY – NEXT WEEKEND
She hoped that he would understand but there were a lot of details to plan, to understand. It was going to be tough but this was something they had to do. She didn’t know if it would work, if he would keep his word but she had been kept a secret for many years and she didn’t see why this would be any different. She had to help them.
