Chapter 2
"Harley are you even listening to me?" Mum- wait, no, not Mum, Lily- said exasperatedly.
"No. Sorry."
Lily (yes I got it right!) giggled.
"So you're gonna need to get sorted and then- tadah!- you'll be in Gryffindor I'm sure. Then we'll do lessons and fun stuff!" Lily explained. My heart dropped like a stone. I'm not a Gryffindor at all. I'm a Hufflepuff through and through, what was she going to say when I got sorted?
Just then, the doors to the hospital wing swung open and Dumbledore marched in with the sorting hat.
"Harley, I'm here to sort you."
My heart beat.
"Just try on this hat and everything will be fine."
Another beat.
"Here," he hands it to me.
My heart beat again. I took the hat and put it on my head. The blood up there was beating so hard.
"Ahh. A Potter," I almost gasped as I heard the word Potter, nobody can know. "Of course they can. You can help them you know, it's all here in your head. If you're to help them the house would be Gryffindor but... You seem so different, more of a Hufflepuff. But I think there's too much of a brave thirst to save everyone here, so announce yourself, HARLEY POTTER! GRYFFINDOR!!!"
My heartbeat slowed to a normal pace and I let out a shaky breath. Then I turned to see Lily staring at me with wide eyes.
"P-P-Potter? You're a Potter?" Lily asked shakily. "You're a Potter and you look just like me?"
She let out a shriek.
"Oh my God! Oh my God!" Lily properly freaked out. "You're form the future aren't you?"
I nodded mutely.
Her eyes widened further and I worried briefly that they would pop out of her head, "Are you my daughter? And the daughter of James?"
I nodded slowly. Lily embraced me in a motherly hug and I sunk into it. I'd found my mother at last. And maybe, just maybe, I could save her.
"No. Sorry."
