Had anyone ever noticed? Had anyone taken a proper look? Even a True Gryffindor would not be able tell The Sword of Gryffindor from a fake. But there are differences. One is Goblin made one is wizard made. The true sword takes in that which makes it stronger and does not tarnish. It may also present itself to any true Gryffindor. The fake… was just that.

In 1997, only a month before Professor Dumbledore died, he took the True Sword off the wall and showed it to me. Let us say that I was emotional by this point. We talked as only Dumbledore did and told me that he had commissioned another to be made. I imagine that he had a good idea about what was going to happen in the later stages of both the running of the school (as that was always a concern for him) and the ideas my father had. I imagine he hoped that the students would continue on his legacy.

We hadn’t even gotten half way through the term when Ginny, Neville and Luna broke into Professor Snapes office, stole the sword and tried to get back with it. If only they knew. I was at the meeting to discuss what to do with the sword. As always, Bellatrix was eager to offer her assistance. Which I always found pathetic and irritating. They discussed putting it in dungeons of the castle but as I pointed out, many people knew ways around that. It needed something secure.
