Troll
Chapter 8
It was about a month after Renè haad got her scar on her shoulder. It was the day of Halloween, and truthfully Renè wasn’t that excited. Renè and Hermione were walking to Charms class, chatting about school and books. When they got there, Renè sat next to Harry and Hermione next to Ron.
“Alright everyone, today we will be learning the levitation charm. Everyone got their feather?” Professor Flitwick said, to which Hermione responded by lifting her feather slightly. Renè smirked and rested her head in her hand.
“Now remember the wrist movement we’ve been practising. Swish and Flick. Now try it. Swish and Flick.” Professor Flitwick said. The class all repeated and sighed. The Professor told them the incantation and let them try it out.
“Wingardium Leviosarrr.” Ron said, jabbing his wand in an attempt to make the feather levitate. Hermione looked at Ron and sighed.
“Stop, stop, you’re going to take someone’s eye out. Besides, you’re saying it wrong. It’s LeviOsa, not Leviosar.” she said, with a slight eye roll. Renè giggled as she watched, whilst trying to make her feather levitate.
“Well, if you’re so smart you do it then. Go on.” Ron retorted, annoyed. Hermione sighed and picked up her wand.
“Wingardium LeviOsa.” She said, doing the movement. Her feather levitated and Ron sighed annoyed.
“Oh look! Miss Granger’s done it!” Professor Flitwick said and smiled at Hermione. Hermione smiled also. A moment later Seamus blew up his feather.
“Professor, I think we need another feather over here.” Harry said with a small chuckle. Seamus rolled his eyes, and Renè was laughing.
“Jeez, clearly someone isn’t a Ravenclaw.” Renè said to Seamus with a smirk.
“Oh shush it.” Seamus retorted and rolled his eyes again.
After class had ended, Ron and Harry walked out together, Renè and Harry not too far behind them.
“‘It’s LeviOsa, not Leviosar.’ Honestly, she’s a nightmare. No wonder she hasn’t got any friends.” Ron said to Harry who shrugged. Hermione started sobbing and walked quickly past them.
“Oh you idiots! And she does have friends! You’re such idiots!” Renè yelled at the boys before following Hermione. She lost track of where Hermione went, so she headed down to the Great Hall. She sat far from Harry and Ron, still angry with them. She picked at her food until the doors suddenly swung open.
“Troll! Troll in the dungeon!” The Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, Professor Quirell, yelled as he ran in. He then fainted and Dumbeldore stood up. Screams erupted in the Great Hall, but Dumbledore managed to speak over them.
“Prefects shall lead their houses back to their dormitories at once.” He said, calmly. All of the prefects started yelling orders at their houses and leading them separate ways. Renè ran off from her group of fellow house members to go find Hermione. She was soon followed by Ron and Harry. They found Hermione in the Girl’s bathroom, along with the troll.
“Hermione! Are you alright?” Renè yelled and Ron rolled his eyes. Hermione slightly nodded in response as Harry, Ron, and Renè did their best to get the troll away from Hermione.
After they finally succeeded the Professors walked in.
“What do you four think you were doing? Explain yourselves.” Professor McGonagall said, sternly. Renè went to go say something, but was cut off by Hermione.
“It’s my fault, Professor. I had read all about mountain trolls and when I heard there was one in the school I went to look for it. If it wasn't for Harry, Ron, and Renè I would’ve been dead.” Hermione lied. Professor McGonagall sighed.
“I expected better from you, Miss Granger. 5 points from Gryffindor. And as for you three,” she turned to Harry, Ron, and Renè, “I hope you all realize how lucky you are. Hardly anyone can take on a full grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. 5 points to Gryffindor for each of you. Dumb luck.”
Renè, Ron, and Harry smiled slightly. The Professors left and the four children waited a while before following also. There was no doubt that this was the start of a great friendship.
