The Scar and Pain
Chapter 7
Hogwarts was great so far. Renè loved everyday she was there. She enjoyed chatting with Harry and studying with Hermione. The only thing that was hard for her was becoming more distant from Ron as he made his own friends. Which, Renè was completely fine with, except that he really didn’t try to make time for her at all anymore. And, even though she was very close to Harry and Hermione, she felt lost and alone.
“Renè? You alright?” Harry asks Renè, noticing she was staring off into space again.
Renè nodded. “Mmm, I’m fine. Sorry. Have you talked with Ron lately?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Because, I mean, he really won’t talk to me. It’s like I’m a burden.”
“Don’t say that. I’m sure he just might want his space.”
Renè didn’t respond as they continued their walk through the corridors. Harry and Renè’s arms brushed against each other and, even though most people would blush at this, it sent a small pain to Renè’s shoulder. She winced and looked at Harry, who had been watching her, unsure of what was wrong. Renè sighed and looked away, deciding it must’ve been her imagination.
“I’ll be right back. Just, stay here, Alright?” Renè said, the pain in her shoulder getting worse. Harry nodded and stopped walking. Renè rushed off to the Girl’s Bathroom and walked towards the mirror. She moved her sleeve just enough to see her elbow. She noticed a scar that wasn’t there before and happened to be bleeding. She sighed and pushed her sleeve back, hoping the bleeding would stop soon. She walked back to Harry and sighed.
“How did you do that? And why?” Renè questioned as they started walking again.
Harry looked at her confused. “Do what?” he asked. Renè sighed, realizing Harry didn’t do it, and that something else must’ve happened.
“Never mind, sorry.” Renè murmured. Harry shrugged and sighed. The rest of their walk to class was completely silent, both of them confused over something. The pain in Renè’s shoulder was unimaginable and hurt more than anything you could imagine. All she was able to do was hold back tears. Harry knew something must’ve been wrong, but he was afraid to ask her. As they almost made it to class, they were stopped. By none other than Draco Malfoy.
“Oh, Potter has a girlfriend does he? What’d he do to her shoulder there? Punching Weasleys now, are we Potter?” Draco said with his famous smirk. Renè laughed coldly.
“We’re just friends. And no he didn’t punch me. Clearly you need to be punched though.” She said back. Harry chuckled and Draco growled.
“Like anyone would punch me-” Draco started, but was cut off by Renè punching him in the face.
“They wouldn’t, would they?” She said and smirked, before dragging Harry into the classroom. By the look on Draco’s face, it was clear he was planning revenge.
“That was brilliant.” Harry said as they sat down in the Charms classroom. Renè smiled and muttered a thanks before looking over at Ron. Ron noticed this and looked back at her, frowning slightly. Renè sighed.
“Another secret kept, or he really hates me.” she mumbled. Harry shook his head, and went to reply but was cut off by class starting.
