Hatstall of a Lifetime
Chapter 6
The next few minutes before sorting were a blur. The only thing René could remember clearly was this,
A boy with platinum blonde hair approached Renè, Ron, and Harry. He tried convincing Harry that he needed “better friends” and insulted Renè and Ron. Renè, of course, ended up getting into a fight with him instantly. They both kept yelling insulting things at each other before Harry pulled Renè away and sighed.
“That was insane of you. You honestly didn’t need to bother on someone that idiotic.” Harry muttered to Renè who simply shrugged.
Renè snapped back into reality as she heard a familiar name being called up to be sorted.
“Hermione Granger.” Professor McGonagall has said. Hermione walked up nervously, muttering things to herself. Renè watched and frowned slightly. She heard Ron and Harry talking about Hermione but decided to ignore it. After a few seconds the hat yelled out, “GRYFFINDOR” and Hermione made her way to the cheering Gryffindor table.
Many more people were called until Harry was called. Renè gave Harry a slight smile, silently wishing him luck as he walked up. The Great Hall erupted in whispers, which annoyed Renè so much. She felt like standing on a table and yelling, “What’s your guy’s problem?”, but she realized she isn’t allowed to do that. So she patiently stood there hoping the best for Harry. Renè didn’t know what was going on as she watched Harry, who was muttering things to the hat. She started worrying until the hat finally yelled out,
“GRYFFINDOR!”
Renè smiled and cheered for Harry as he walked to the Gryffindor table, which was also loud with cheers. Renè decided she could finally stop being nervous, but quickly realized that she was wrong as she was called up to be sorted. Renè bit her lip and walked up. She could see Fred and George smirking as they watched, but what made her less tense was seeing Harry and Hermione give her a small smile. She sat down on the stool and the hat was placed on her head.
“Well, an interesting one we have here? Whole family in Gryffindor, not to mention you do have great nerve underneath. But the smartness stands out also, smart as a true Ravenclaw. Yet, kindness and loyalty of a Hufflepuff. Oh, but a dark side also, and the cunniness of a Slytherin! A mix of all houses, well what a decision!” The sorting hat said. Renè sighed and bit the inside of her lip. In her head she kept repeating, “Please be Gryffindor, please be Gryffindor.” She definitely didn’t want to be in a separate house than her siblings, nor her friends. After a long ten minutes, the hat finally yelled,
“Very hard decision, but we best make it GRYFFINDOR!”
Renè let out a deep sigh of relief before walking over to the Gryffindor table and sitting down next to Harry. Harry smiled at her. Soon later Ron joined them. After that, the sorting ceremony concluded and the feat began.
Renè smiled to herself. She knew this was going to be the best year of her life, and all the danger would be worth it in the end.
