Chapter 28
The next day Ron and Harry went again to check on Hermione. While they were there they found a piece of paper from a book. The paper really explained everything. Absolutely everything. Harry and Ron ran to go show someone when the speakers broke out.
“All students are to return to their dormitories at once. All teachers are to report to the second floor corridor.” McGonagall’s voice rang out. Naturally, Harry and Ron went to the second floor corridor and hid themselves. The wall had a new message.
“Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever.” McGonagall said to the other teachers. The other teachers gasped and looked between the message and McGonagall.
“I’m afraid this is the end of Hogwarts.” McGonagall said. All of the teachers frowned as did Harry. This was his home. They couldn’t take him from it.
“Who is the person?” Madame Pomfrey asked, her voice shaking.
“René Weasley, I’m afraid.” McGonagall said and frowned. The other teachers sighed and shook their heads. Harry felt like all his breath was taken away from him. She couldn’t have been taken like that. Not after everything.
Suddenly, Lockhart came around the corner. “What’d I miss?” He asked with a grin.
“You need to go save the girl, Lockhart. It is in your department after all.” McGonagall said crisply.
“Oh..well yes...let me go.... prepare.” Lockhart said timidly before fastly walking to his office.
Harry nodded at Ron before they were both heading off that way also. They had to save René. She was Ron’s twin and Harry’s best friend. They couldn’t leave her. When they got to Lockhart’s office they immediately found him packing.
“Where are you going?” Harry asked coldly.
“It doesn’t concern you. Last minute things.” Lockhart said with a nervous chuckle.
“We can help you save her. And before you say you're busy, you have no choice.” Harry said.
Lockhart sighed and after a while of arguing they were off to Myrtle's bathroom and questioning her. After many questions Harry was speaking snake to the sink in the bathroom and finding the opening to the Chamber.
“Well it looks like you two know exactly what you're doing, so I best be off. Good luck.” Lockhart said and turned to leave.
Harry and Ron both swiftly pointed their wands at him. “You can go down first, Professor.” Ron said coldly. Lockhart frowned before he fell down. Seconds later Ron and Harry were going after him. The only thing on Harry's mind is that Lockhart was slowing them down far too much and that René didn't stand a chance anymore. She was probably already dead.
