Mysteriously Missing
Chapter 19
A couple weeks into their second year, Harry, Ron, and Hermione noticed something. Ron knew what it was but he acted clueless about what was wrong. They knew that the Chamber was being opened and everything (they had been making polyjuice also), but Renè hadn’t shown up to anything after lunch. None of the Professors had noticed, nor cared, which made Ron and Harry upset.
“Guys, really? She hardly ever talks in class, and she can afford to miss some classes. It’s not that big of a deal.” Hermione said to them as they made their way to dinner. Ginny was whispering to her friends off at the far end of the Gryffindor table, so naturally Ron sat down pretty close to her.
“Ginny Weasley! Are you seriously trying to spread rumors!” Ron snapped, as he overheard part of Ginny’s whispering. Ginny rolled her eyes.
“Well at least everyone will know the most likely chamber opener. And the worst person on Earth.” Ginny retorted.
“Shut up Ginny. Jealousy kills you doesn’t it?” Ron said. Ginny sighed and stood up before leaving.
“That wasn’t very nice Ronald.” Hermione snapped, just as Malfoy came over.
“Where’s your girlfriend Potter? Busy opening the chamber again, huh?” Malfoy teased, maintaining his ever famous smirk.
“Shove off Malfoy.” Ron muttered.
“How about you do that Weasel? Are you anything like your twin? Got the curse and all too?”
“No, I don’t thanks.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Harry asked.
Hermione, who had trailed off into a conversation with Hannah Abott, gasped and looked over at them.
“Why did she never tell us any of this? And why did you let her not say anything, Ron.” Hermione questioned. Harry sighed.
“Because it’s not a matter for the Prophet. Have you seen how quickly news travels at Hogwarts?” Ron said, rolling his eyes.
Harry stood up, angry he hadn't been told what they were talking about and walked outside. When he made it out he saw the vibrant ginger hair of a familiar person, crying near the forbidden forest. He frowned and walked over.
“Hey what’s wrong?” Harry asked.
Renè shook her head. “Ginny. I better go now though. I think it’s around time for sunset. Sorry, see you later.” she muttered before walking off. The memory of that moment became a blur and Harry was suddenly questioning how he got to the edge of the forest.
Renè wasn’t seen until the last class of the day the next day. Hermione didn’t want to ask any questions, so neither did Harry nor Ron. Harry comforted Renè since she seemed upset over something. And there might as well have been way more for her to be upset about, since Ginny had let out her biggest secret and Snape was giving her a rough time.
