Through the Trapdoor
Chapter 13
When the children made it to the third floor corridor, the three headed dog was already asleep. There was a harp playing, clearly the reason why the dog was sleeping. Harry turned to the other three.
“Alright, I’m going to go through the trapdoor and when I say it's safe to come in you all can come in also. Alright?” Harry said, to which the other three nodded reluctantly.
Harry jumped through the trapdoor. As soon as he fell onto the tangled plant at the bottom, the three headed dog woke up. Hermione, Ron, and Renè screamed, before jumping through the trapdoor also. Something, almost like ropes, started wrapping around the friends.
“Devil’s Snare. You need to stay calm and relax!” Hermione said. Ron rolled his eyes.
“And how do you expect us to do that!?” Ron yelled. Renè, who tried to yell something at Ron just let out a small scream. Everywhere the Devil’s Snare had touched on Renè, started to burn. Harry and Ron’s eyes both widened as they looked at her, but they both were more nervous when Hermione fell through the plant.
“You need to relax!” Hermione yelled. Harry listened, Renè following not too far after, but Ron would not do what Hermione was saying.
“Light.” Renè mumbled quietly. She was leaning against Harry for support, clearly hurt by the Devil’s Snare. Hermione nodded and burnt a whole through the plant, allowing Ron to fall through.
“Well that was simple.” Ron said as he stood up.
“I hope you were being sarcastic.” Renè murmured. Harry sighed.
“Guess we should go on now.” He muttered before the four of them walked to the next room.
There was a single door and a bunch of birds-
“Are those birds or keys?” Renè asked.
“Keys, I think.” Hermione said.
-keys flying above them. There was a broom, mysteriously floating a few feet above the ground. Harry walked over to it.
“Well do we use this to get the right key?” Harry asked.
Renè shrugged. “Suppose. It should be big...maybe old too?” she said.
Harry nodded and got on the broom. The keys immediately became reckless-well, there is probably a better word for that, but reckless to say the least. Harry was able to spot the key and grab it. The friends managed to get out of the room quickly. The next room seemed like a huge chess board (and aced like one too, when Harry went to walk to the other door the chess pieces blocked him).
:”Looks like we have to play.” Ron said. Renè and Hermione groaned.
“I’d rather get tangled in Devil’s Snare again.” Renè muttered.
“Good joke. Everyone needs to go replace a piece.” Ron said. The others did as he said, Renè honestly about to faint or throw up. And of course Ron, who knew more about Renè than anyone there, didn’t seem to care.
---A/N (Author’s Note) Since I have no clue how to play chess, and I’m too lazy to look back at the Sorcerer's Stone book, I’m just going to skip it. Hope you’re enjoying it!----
After the chess game finished, Ron had fainted. Hermione gave a small lecture to Harry and Renè before the two went on into the next room. (A/N I KNOW I’M SO ANNOYING, but for the sake of the storyline we’re going off the movie where the potions never played a part) Renè and Harry stood close together and when they expected to see Snape standing there they saw, Quirrel.
