Shocking Revelations
Chapter 2
"Bye, Fred, George!" I called over my shoulder as I walked out the door of Weasley's Wizard Weazes, or as we like to call it, Triple W. "See ya, Riv!" The twins' identical voices rang out through the empty shop. I locked the door, knowing the twins won't. I headed to the Leakey Cauldron and into the muggle world.
My motorcycle was parked outside a shop and I climbed on, putting my fingerless gloves and helmet on. I wove through the traffic with ease, seeing as I did this every day. I nearly got flattened by a pickup truck who turned without a turn signal and cut me off. I checked to make sure his windows were rolled up before shouting, "NICE TURN SIGNAL, ASSHOLE!"
I got to my flat and parked my bike outside. I took off my helmet and gloves and shrunk them, concealing them in a secret compartment in my motorcycle. I walked up to my door and unlocked it, walking inside. I strode into the kitchen and fixed myself some left over steak and potatoes. I put a heating charm on it and went to my room to change.
I changed into a Weird Sisters t-shirt and jeans and padded, barefoot, into the kitchen. The steak still needed to heat up a bit so I called Midnight over and put some dog food in her bowl. The black lab puppy hurried over and happily munched on her snack. I then sat at the counter on a bar stool and ate my food.
Just as I put the now empty plate in the sink, the phone rang. I hurried over and picked it up, seeing it was my mum calling. I answered it and said, "Mum? Is something wrong?" She rarely talked to me unless something happens. Her voice on the other end said, "No, dear. I just have to tell you something. Could you come over?"
"Can't you tell me now?" I was starting to get anxious. And very confused. "No. This has to be done face-to-face." "Okay, Mum. I'll be right over." As soon as I said that, she hung up.
I appearated to my parents' house, landing in their backyard. My mum opened the door as I walked up to it and engulfed me in a hug. "Mum. Can't. Breathe." She pulled away and I saw tears in her eyes. "Mum, what's wrong?" "Why don't you go say hello to your father." I walked into my father's study, knowing he'd be there.
"Hi, Dad." I said, smiling. He looked up and when his eyes landed on me, they turned stone cold. "Hello, Amy." I flinched. He never called me by my first name unless he was angry. Then, it hit me. I opened my mouth to say something, but he stood up, cutting me off. "I'm needed at the office. It was good to see you." When he walked out, my mother walked in.
"Have a seat, dear." I sat down across from her. "You- you wanted to tell me something?" "Yes." I couldn't hold it in anymore. "Are you and dad getting a divorce?" She looked shocked. "What? No. Why on earth would you think that?"
"Well, he's mad and you're about to cry, or have been crying, and now you wanna tell me something." She sighed. "I let him in on a well-kept secret about my family. About your family." I furrowed my brow. "Mum, you're not making any sense." She let a tear fall down her cheek. "Your birthday is tomorrow, correct? You're turning 25?" "Yes..." I said, slowly. "Rosie, on your 25th birthday, at exactly 5:30, traits will appear. I'm not sure which ones. But I know you will enhance."
"What are you talking about?" I demanded. She finally gave in. "Rose, you're not Muggle Born like you always thought." I gasped. "What?" "You have magical blood. Veela blood." "Mum, what are you saying?"
"You're a Veela."
