Chapter 7
“Wake up, Albus,” said Ceasar as he nudged him. Albus opened his eyes. Light was shining in through the stained glass window next to Albus’s bed. Most of the boys were still sleeping.
“We need to get a head start if we want breakfast and a place to sit. Change into your school robes, and make sure you bring your books too. Classes start right after breakfast.” Albus sleepily got out of bed and went to the bathroom and changed. He woke Taylor up and they both got their books and wands and went to the the Great Hall with Ceasar.
When Albus sat down, a bagel and eggs appeared on his plate. He hungrily ate the food as more appeared on his plate. Rosie sat down next to him.
“Sorry I was late. I was just talking to Dumbledore about how I know a great person that could teach charms.” Rosie’s plate produced toast and jam. Suddenly, Albus heard the wings of an owl. It was his parents’ owl, Hed. She gracefully glided down to Albus’s table. There was a leather pouch attached to her. Albus carefully took his new flying Pigmy Puff, invented by Uncle George, and set him down onto the table. It shook its little body f fuzz and sneezed. He took off the note attached to Hedwig and read it. It said,’ Hello, Albus. Having fun at Hogwarts? Have you made new friends? We hope so. Send us a letter as soon as possible. We love you, Mom and Dad.’ Albus folded the note up and stuck it into his pocket, remembering to send a letter back home.
“So, what are you going to name him?” Taylor asked.
“What?”
“All animals have a name, you know.”
“I don’t know.”
“Maybe Egg?”
“Why?”
“Your Pigmy Puff is sitting on your eggs.”
Albus looked down and sure enough, Egg was drenched in his sunny-side-up. It was hopping around in his plate.
“Aqua Eructo,” Rosie said as she pointed her wand at Egg. A thin stream of water shot out from the tip of her wand. “See, Albus? Studying on the train wasn’t such a bad idea.” Albus picked up his clean Pigmy Puff and held on to him. Three more owls came. One dropped a package off in Rosie’s lap and the other two gave Ceasar and Taylor notes. Rosie unwrapped a package and gasped.
“What is it Rosie? Are you okay?” asked Albus.
“I just got the new textbook by Gilderoy Lockhart! It is autographed by him!”
“Oh. What did you guys get?” asked Albus to Ceasar and Taylor.
“I got a letter from my parents telling me to ask a prefect to get me an owl,” answered Taylor.
“Mine want me to not cause so much trouble,” said Ceasar. “Did you know that flying classes are today? I'm so excited. I heard that they choose a few first-years to join the team this year! But only if you're really good. ”
“Really? We should all try out! My dad said he'd send over a broomstick once I learn how to fly,” replied Albus.
Right then, Professor Malfoy said in a loud voice,
“Breakfast is over. You may go to your classes now. Oh and Potter. You have detention.“ Albus heard a murmur of OOOOOoooooooo's.
"Why me, sir?"
"Well, Scorpius tells me that you kicked him on the train?"
"Well, yes, but he kicked me first."
"I don't want to hear any excuses. Detention tomorrow.
