The Common Room By:Amy Kim
Chapter 6
“Hi Gryffindors! My name is Teddy Lupin and I am one of the two prefects of Gryffindor. You are lucky that I am your prefect ‘cause Victore always cares about perfection and won’t let you go anywhere withn an untucked shirt. Just kidding, you guys! We will go to your common room now.” Albus and the other first-years followed Teddy to the common room and dorms. They approached a portrait of a fat lady in a beautiful, pink silk dress.
“Password?” she asked.
“Caput Draconis,” said Teddy. The portrait moved as if it was a door and revealed a hole. Albus and the others walked through the door and found a very large room with dozens of squashy reclining armchairs, loud music, and a cozy fireplace.
“Hit it, James!” Teddy shouted. James turned on a song. Everyone started singing out at once.
“Party till our brains rot! Party till our brains rot!" The song was the craziest song Albus had ever heard, but James played it every day at home. Teddy turned to the first-years and said,
“If you want to get settled down and sleep, girls' dorms are on the left and the dorms for the MEN are on the right. Feel free to party and socialize with the others though. Usually the first party of the year is the best.” Rosie and a few other Gryffindors headed to their dorms. Albus found Ceasar and Taylor and dancing along with every other Gryffindor. A tall boy tossed Albus a small drawstring bag. He opened the bag and found every single snack and candy from the train.
“You're not a Gryffindor if you don't eat midnight snacks!” he called back. Albus nodded a thank you and went to rejoin his friends. He continued to party until he could stay awake no longer. He, Ceasar, and Taylor went to their dorms. Inside were about one hundred four-poster beds. Albus unpacked his trunks at the bed nearest to the window and tossed the snack bag under his bed. His friends did the same. All three of them finished unpacking and brushed their teeth. Well, not really. They ate more candy afterwards.
Albus set his brand new Ollivanders wand with oak wood and unicorn tail hair down on his dresser and fell asleep, hoping that his parents would send him the flying Pigmy Puff from Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes tomorrow as they had promised. All was well, and Albus was going to have fun this year.
