Chapter 28
Once Barschoff, Harry, and Albus were in the cauldron, Barschoff sent for an assistant. A young man soon appeared with a withering map.
"Thank you, Calcot."
"My pleasure, sir." Calcot left, leaving the three alone in a large room.
"This is a Herbology map. It is designed to show the absolute location of any plant you wish to find. Now, let's find the privets. These are only found in the Muggle world. Harry, do you know any neighbors that grow privets on their front lawns?"
"Yes sir. I have seen some at Albus's friend's house."
"Are you close with them?"
"Yes sir."
"Are they aware that you are a wizard?"
"No sir. We have provided an explanation for everything that is suspicious. I said that I fell of a bench as a child for my scar." Barschoff snickered at the last sentence.
"Then, Harry, could you Apparate back to the Muggle world to get a bundle of privets?"
"Yes. I will. Albus, don't bother the Minister and you are not allowed to touch anything except if the Minister asks you to."
"Okay Dad," Albus answered. Harry dissappeared in a blur. Barschoff turned around.
"Well, Albus. It's just you and me." He closed the door. "Did you think I was actually going to help you? Didn't you read the Daily Prophet? It said that Barschoff was missing in the Muggle world. Or, did you not get the news delivered?" Albus sensed that a Death Killer was behind all this. He backed up as Barschoff kept talking. "Would it be this easy to overpower the mighty Dark Lord, with a name so powerful that it almost ceased to exist?!" He started to shake and pulled his wand to his face.
As Albus backed up, he fell into a table. Cauldrons clattered to the floor and glass bottles smashed into pieces. Barschoff swiped his wand across his face as if pulling off an imaginary mask. But Barschoff did pull off a mask. James stood were Barschoff once stood.
"Did you really think it was going to be this easy, Albus? Well, I guess you don't know this either. Your friend Colton's family has been introduced to the magic world. They'll hold Dad up for a while."
"How could you?" Albus gritted his teeth.
"Oh, it was easy. Without many high-ranking officials, we used an Unforgivable Curse." James said it like it was no big deal at all. "The Dark Lord has agreed to spare them, as they are faithful followers of us, but not you." James pointed his wand at Albus.
Albus braced himself this time. He knew that he wouldn't have the luck that he had other times. Albus always dreamed that he would die as a hero, but instead, he was going to die as a coward.
"AVADA KEDAV-"
"Not right now, James"
