The Funeral

Chapter 2
“Miss Snape, I have been advised by Professor McGonagall that it is you I need to speak to?”
I didn’t have the foggiest idea what Mr Scrimgeour was talking about. My face must have been a picture. It wasn’t like I was going to tell him where my uncle was, I’m not even sure I knew for certain. He then cleared his throat and got out a piece of parchment.

“Your Royal Highness Eléa Prince?”

I straightened up, nobody had ever called me by my Elvish name in the wizarding world before. I was highly taken a-back.

“Please could we sit over here for a moment?”

“I have here the last will and testament of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore,

As you know he wanted to be buried within the grounds of Hogwarts a sentiment of which, we are allowing. It asks that there is a service held by HRH Queen Eléa of the Woodland Elves and HRH King Grapa of the Woodland Elves in conjunction with that held by his friends and family. If you do not want to do it under the… circumstances of his death I do understand. However, it was his final wish.”

The words I was thinking but managed reluctantly to say were “Among others”

To receive a burial from the Woodland Elves is one of the highest honours that one can receive. This is a man that, although at times he took liberties with the trust people had in him, helped to raise me and my parents, and gave my uncle the tools to become a guardian and teacher himself. I was able to send word to get the King present.
What is an elvish burial? Well it is to enable the dead to pass through. Much like our purpose on the winter and summer solstice we awaken the sap and send the sap to sleep. Here we allow them to move on. Not to becoming ghosts. The King sends them to sleep and the Queen moves them on.

Garit Prince also attended the ceremony as he met Professor Dumbledore when he came in 1994-1995 and wanted to be part of the elvish delegation. Centaurs, Merpeople, all manner of people had arrived and to me at least it showed just how much he appreciated and respected all manner of different people and how they respected him in return.

Everyone dressed in their best dress robes for the ceremony, however I was dressed in my woodland elf robes, along with crown, to perform the ceremony. It was the first time that people I knew had ever seen me dressed as an elf.

We were not the only non-humans to mourn his passing. Hagrid, who is part giant and his Giant brother Gwap turned up. He just about managed a little speech. Fawkes the Phoenix sang a song.

In the pain and emotion that people were feeling I wonder if people realised that we were even giving the ceremony and I doubt even more if they recognised the fact that three of the people standing before them were related to the killer of our beloved Albus Dumbledore.
