"Where's Ron?"
Chapter 2
Shuffle. Whisper. Step. Step. Step...
The group of first years walk together up the steps of Hogwarts, whispering together about the Sorting. "I heard it's some sort of test." One girl says, looking worried. Ginny shakes her head. "Nope. All my brothers say it's an old hat. It just tells you where you belong." She says, smiling. I smile along with her. We had been waiting our WHOLE LIVES for this moment, and NOTHING was going to ruin it. Professor McGonagall steps forward, gesturing us into the Great Hall. We move as one towards the end of the room, where an old dirty hat sits on a stool. Ginny looks around the hall. "He's not here!" She says, sounding disappointed. I know who she's talking about. Ron. And Harry. I frown as a boy is called forward. "Colin Creevy!" McGonagall says loudly. A small boy with a camera around his neck steps forward. He seems to be vibrating with excitement and nervousness. As the hat is placed on his head, it takes a few moments, than calls out: "GRYFFINDOR!" The boy smiles as he runs towards the Gryffindor table, being greeted by several people, including Hermione.
I bite my lip. If I didn't get in Gryffindor, I didn't know what I'd do. Because Ginny and I's last names are at the end of the alphabet, were the last ones to get sorted. McGonagall adjusts her glasses and looks up from her list of names. "Valentine, Amanda!" She says, and I step forward. McGonagall places the hat on my head as I sit down. "Oooh! Another Valentine, I see. Just like your mother. I know just where to put you...GRYFFINDOR!" I smile brightly as I run towards Hermione and Colin. A moment later, Ginny is also sorted into Gryffindor. "Glad you two could join us! Unlike the boys..." Hermione mutters, obviously still mad at Ron and Harry.
(I will continue later, but thanks so much for reading so far! ~ Alethea.)
