Chapter 1: Where it all began

Chapter 1
Clunk. Pause. Clunk. Pause. Clunk.
I examine the next bean, than drop it. I'd always been scared of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. I only eat the ones with the least horrible downside. Uhg. Rotten egg. Ginny is sitting across from me, eating the beans I don't. Story time! My name is Amanda Valentine. I've been best friends with Ginny Weasley since FOREVER. We have been SO excited to go to Hogwarts, and now it's finally happening! YAY! But, a few days ago we went to Diagon Alley with her and her family, plus THE Harry Potter(her crush). When we went to get our books this super evil-looking dude named Lucius Malfoy(father of Draco Malfoy, the school bully) got into a fight with Ginny's dad. It was pretty dramatic. Anyways, somehow a diary had gotten into Gin's cauldron and, get this, it's not even written in! So yeah, that's my short story. Anyways, we had just got on the train about 5 minutes ago, and chose to sit in the compartment closest to the door.

I look up at her. "So, are we gonna talk about it?" I ask her. She frowns at me. "About what?" she says, as if she doesn't know. I sigh. "The book! The book that you found in you cauldron! I think it's dangerous." I say. She creases her eyebrows and crosses her legs. "How can a book be dangerous? It's not even written in!" she backfires. I throw my hands up in the air. "Whatever! I just think there's something strange about it. A diary that's not written in? It just doesn't feel right." Ginny ignores me, but her expression changes ever so slightly. I can tell she's bothered by it, too. I decide to talk go to Hermione. I walk down the isle and find her in a compartment. Alone. That's strange. "Hey, 'Mione, where's Harry and Ron?" She frowns and turns her head. "How should I know? I looked all over the platform, but couldn't find them. I just know they got themselves into trouble again. What idiots." She says, sounding somewhat angry. I decide not to push it. I leave and go back to the compartment. "Hey, Gin, Did you know that Harry and Ron didn't make it to the platform?" I ask. She looks up. "What? Where are they, than?" I shrug. "I asked Hermione. She's just as clueless as us." I say. I sit down. Ginny frowns and looks out the window.

We change into our robes before we arrive at Hogsmeade station. The train stops and we get out. I see a very large man with a bushy beard beckoning us first years. He leads us in boats that seem to magically move themselves across the lake. "Welcome t' Hogwarts!" he bellows. I look up at the beautiful lights in the magnificent castle and my mouth droops open. "It's so-" I start to say, but Ginny finishes for me. "Beautiful." she says. I smile. No doubt about it, my first year at Hogwarts won't be like any other year. I had no idea how right I was.
