Chapter 1
Location: Entrance to Professor Dumbledore’s Office, June 1997
LOUISA SNAPE, Head Girl walks up to the Gargoyles at the entrance to the Headmaster’s Office.
LOUISA SNAPE: Toffee Eclairs!
The gargoyles move around and a marble staircase is revealed. She walks up and knocks on the door.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: Come in Louisa, please take a seat. (she nods and sits down)
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: How are you, on this fine evening.
LOUISA SNAPE: You’re asking about my health?
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: I am asking a great deal from you Louisa, I know that. Would you oblige me by answering?
LOUISA SNAPE: I’m fine.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: And Master Draco?
LOUISA SNAPE: Fine.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: I see.
LOUISA SNAPE: May I ask about you?
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: You may, but I believe the reason I brought you here may answer that.
LOUISA SNAPE: Professor?
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: The vanishing cabinet does not work without a particular piece.
LOUISA SNAPE: Yes sir.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: As I told you, it is specific to the item and was removed from the cabinet when it was
brought here. I’m afraid that time may not be on my side. I believe you elves say “eloch nach slshinoi”?
LOUISA SNAPE: (smiling at his pronunciation) something like that Professor.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: Hmm, This piece will help you. I did not anticipate Mr Malfoys… health conditions.
However, I believe you can find a way.
LOUISA SNAPE: Yes sir. (takes a piece that looks like a cog)
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: You have proved to me and your father how capable you are. But make sure that you stay true to you.
LOUISA SNAPE: Yes sir.
PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE: If you would be so kind and give this parchment to Harry.
LOUISA SNAPE: Yes Sir.
