Funny how these things coincide. Slughorn liked to give a helping hand too.

The Party

Chapter 1
We spent a lot of time deliberating, talking and finally getting the job done. It was a team effort though and to be honest I’m not sure my “part” ever helped that much. It felt as though we were both being pulled in a million directions. I had my father, Dumbledore, my uncle, being Head Girl and of course studies to deal with and Draco had his parents, aunt Bellatrix, Voldemort, and of course studies. Somehow both of us were becoming more drawn and tired. Somehow, we both got through it. We became best friends and yet were unable to let the word spread. I had learnt from… previous mistakes and illnesses and was not going to let it happen again. I kept friends close.

Location: Professor Slughorn’s Office, Hogwarts School, Scotland, Christmas Party 1996

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: Ah Miss Snape, Glad you good make it after all. (shakes hand merrily)

LOUISA SNAPE: Yes Professor, wouldn’t miss it.

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: and who may I ask did you bring with you?

LOUISA SNAPE: I came with Eddie Carmichael Sir.

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: Well have a wonderful time. Let me introduce you, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Weird Sisters this is Donaghan Tremlet their Bass player. Donaghan this is Louisa Snape, related to our dear Professor Snape don’t you know. (the two smile not wishing to say that they already knew each other) and Gwenog Jones of the Holyhead Harpies. Oh! Harry my Boy!

DONAGHAN TREMLET: So we had you right from the start then, you’ve changed but I guess you do.

LOUISA SNAPE: Hi Donaghan, um yeah… (shifts uncomfortably)

DONAGHAN TREMLET: You don’t remember do you I was in Charlie and Tonk’s year.

LOUISA SNAPE: No, I do, It’s just, I didn’t think people would think of me kindly like that.

DONAGHAN TREMLET: Nah, Charlie and Tonks always thought highly of you. what with your skills. I always thought
you were Charlie’s kid sister the way he talked about you.

LOUISA SNAPE: Blushing, nope. Just the hanger on. Do you see them much?

DONAGHAN TREMLET: Now and again but the band’s doing well. Saw you at the Yule Ball.

LOUISA SNAPE: Oh that, um yeah. Oh, this, is Eddie. (Pushes him forward) and Ginny is here somewhere that’s Charlie’s actual sister.

EDDIE CARMICHAEL: Evening Professor.

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Hello, what may I ask are you doing?

EDDIE CARMICHAEL: Err… I was heading um… for a drink. (walks very quickly away)

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Clearly something I said... Tremlet, Gracing us with another performance?

DONAGHAN TREMLET: Just catching up Professor.

LOUISA SNAPE: You have such technique (smiles and they walk to the drinks)

PROFESSOR SNAPE: And they show little resistance (smiles)

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: Ah! Severus, stop skulking and come join us, I was just talking about Harry’s exceptional potion-making! Some credit must go to you, of course, you taught him for five years!

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Funny, I never had the impression that I managed to teach Potter anything at all.

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: Well, then, it’s natural ability!

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Really? What subjects are you taking?

HARRY POTTER: Defence against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology…

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Subjects to become an Auror are they not?

HARRY POTTER: Well yes, that’s what I want to be.

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: And a great one you’ll make too.

LUNA LOVEGOOD: I don’t think you should be an Auror Harry they are part of the Conspiracy…

ARGUS FILCH: Professor! Professor! I caught this one out in an upstairs corridor. He claims to be invited to your party.

DRACO MALFOY: Alright! I wasn’t invited I was gate crashing. Happy?

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: No harm done Argus.

PROFESSOR SNAPE: Draco with me.

PROFESSOR SLUGHORN: Now Severus it’s Christmas it’s fine. All fine.

PROFESSOR SNAPE: I believe I am his head of house and I decide the punishment Horace.
