Silent Treatment - Hermione P.O.V

Chapter 11
a/n I know Draco and Mione aren’t together yet, but it’s not like they can get together right away, after years of hatred. (Honestly, that’s why Dramione isn’t too realistic... just doing it cause I feel like it would be cool if this happened.) just be patient!

I get up and point to the door. Malfoy shuffles out, his head down, and hands in his pockets. Then I run, fling myself onto my bed, and cry. As I cry, I think about Ron. And Harry. About our friendship. How we are not really talking right now. How much I miss that. How growing up is hard. And about Draco. All about Draco. About how much he has changed, and about how much I need someone to talk to. And about how he looks. And feels when he touches me. And then I think about how stupid that sounds and mental smack myself. But I can't help it. After hours upon hours of thinking, my watch ticks 2 am, so I assume Malfoy is asleep, and creep to the kitchen to make some hot cocoa.
When I reach the Kitchen, I reach for my wand in the pocket of my jeans, and Lumos to get some light. I jump, surprised to see Draco sitting in a chair. I immediately turn on my heal, but not before I hear him say,
"You are not gonna avoid me forever."
I slam the door to my room and run over to my bed, expecting to sink back into my flow of tears. Instead of pitying myself though, I start thinking about how ridiculous I must look, and go through all of the break-ups I have witnessed, and how silly they all looked. First, it was Lavender in 3rd year, with some jock 5th year. Then Parvati just months later, with a Ravenclaw in our own year. Then it was Ginny with Michael Corner in her 4th year. Then Lavender with Ron. Hermione smiled a little at this one, before realizing that she was now the one crying over Ron.
"I must look so stupid" I mutter under my breath. "No wonder Malfoy is mad with me." Then I think logically. Malfoy is mad at me, because I got mad at him, for trying to comfort me. Now I blush a deeper shade of red and sink into my bed.
"He must hate me now!"I whisper into my hands that are now covering my glowing red face. "I was so rude."
And then another train of thought hits me.
"He's just Malfoy," I say, almost like I'm talking to someone. "So I don't care what he thinks of me. He's just a stuck-up prat. Who cares?" Then I laugh in relief. A laugh that scares even me deep down. A laugh that could shatter someone.
I hear a door slam, and groan, sinking back down in my bed, and resuming the covering of my face, which feels like it is on fire. He heard me. I am doomed.
~THE NEXT MORNING~
I wake up early, and get dressed in my button-down shirt, with jeans. I fasten my Gryffindor tie around my collar and pin my Head Girl badge onto the left side of my blouse. I then lay out my robes on my bed, so I remember to put them on before I leave for classes and head out to the common room area to make breakfast and sort my books and supplies into my school bag. There is the spring in my step that there always is on the first day of classes. The one Ron and Harry always made fun of me for. My stomach churns at the thought of Harry and wrenches at the thought of Ron, but the spring in my step doesn't die. I make myself a cup of coffee the muggle way, and an egg, and take them to the bright red love seat on the right side of the fire. Placing my bag, books, and supplies on one cushion, and myself on the other, I sort them, a task that takes about an hour.
When I am done sorting, I reach for Hogwarts a History, in my don't need to bring to the class pile, and stroke the cover. I had read the book many times, but there was a comfort to read it, one that I greatly needed right now.
Pointing my wand at the fire and Incendioing it, I start to read the book. As I am flipping through, I hear footsteps and look up from my book. Malfoy has arrived.
"You're out of bed, finally..." I say nervously. He turns his back on me and goes to make himself breakfast. I shake my head and return to my book guiltily.
I read for what feels like forever in the awkwardly silent common room, before my watch talks to me.
"Ten minutes before class miss!" I jump up, grabbing my bag and rushing to get my robe. I then walk out the door, a slightly tapered spring in my step.
