Summer Job
Chapter 1
My first job, if you can call it that, I started in the summer of 1996. I worked with Fred and George at Weasley Wizarding Wheezes, located at 93 Diagon Alley, convenient considering I was, at the time living at an unknown location somewhere between Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley.
I was only there for a few weeks over the summer but I was glad to have something to do. I filled my time going from one extreme of Voldemort’s Death Eater’s at Malfoy Manor to Fred and George’s wild and elaborate fun filled crazy place. It was a crazy time.
Fred and George would either stay at my place or the flat over the shop. But Gert, my house-elf was getting frustrated with them after a while. He said that there were too many explosions to deal with. They would leave “treats” on my pillow too. Sometimes I recognised them but once I didn’t and ended up with getting tongue-tied. Luckily the Loo / Gred / Forge team were now all over 17 and now “of age”.
Lee Jordon also helped out a bit and Angelina Johnson, now ex- Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. We took it in turns to hand out flyers, talk to customers and be behind the cash desk. It always seemed to be heaving. Everyone loved it and if we could help our friends, we wanted to do that. I just happened to be the closest which really annoyed Angelina and shocked Lee. Verity was among the “staff workers”. We wore magenta robes which looked really nice.
I think that I was more of an “attraction” than anything else, people knew that I could transfigure so I would be something different every day, one man kept bringing his son in just to see the colour of my hair!
